Elite Activewear: Styling Beyond The Gym

18th March 2021

As we transition into cooler weather, comfort is becoming more of a priority in our outfits. What better way to remain comfortable than to take on the athleisure trend? Athleisure refers to activewear worn as casual clothing, or a style that consists of elements of both athletic wear and casual wear - think leggings and fashion sneakers for a Sunday brunch date. The trend has been around for some time, but after we stocked up on trackies and elevated home styles in 2020, we don’t see this one going anywhere anytime soon. To help navigate this style, we’ve put together some styling tips and outfit ideas using our women’s Elite activewear range.

Lean Into The ‘Active’ Look

You’re busy, you’ve got errands to run, and any form of running constitutes workout gear! Maybe that’s a stretch, but taking on an athletic look no longer has to be unfashionable. Our workout gear and activewear has progressively gotten more stylish - from pattern crop tops to compressions tights. Activewear can be styled as a casual look, and no one is going to think twice if they see you grabbing a coffee or grocery shopping in a pair of leggings and a sports crop. Embrace the post gym look, and remain comfortable and ready for anything all day long! For a seamless casual look using activewear, pair your favourite workout tights with fashion sneakers, rather than running shoes, and add a matching t-shirt.

Make it Match

Matching sets are everywhere. Luxe loungewear looks, coordinated sets of separates, and tracksuits are the easiest trend to style. Picking up 2 matching pieces - a top and bottom - means that all of the thought is taken out of your outfit, and you still look ultra put together. We’ve already established that after 2020, the tracksuit as casual fashion isn’t going anywhere, so why not pair your favourite trackies with that ultra comfortable hoodie and add some sneakers? Look = finished. Once again, take this look from the gym to the cafe with fashion sneakers, and layer a statement jacket over your hoodie for those cooler days. Leather or denim could work!

Active Tops Are Casual

So far, we’ve primarily mentioned how using your active bottoms as a casual piece can be the basis of an excellent athleisure look - but you can use your workout tops for fashionable outfits too. Workout hoodies tend to be surprisingly versatile, whether it's because they’ve got an interesting crop, a particularly comfortable silhouette, or just a really great material. Our new Elite twist hem hoodie is the perfect example of how clothing made for workouts can still be a casual item. Take your favourite gym outerwear piece, and pair it with a pair of jeans. Push the envelope a bit by adding heeled boots, and layering jewellery to create an outfit that barely looks like activewear is used - only you’ll know how comfy it is.
