Next Steps - A response to domestic and family violence
Family is at the heart of Best&Less, which is why we strive to always support and help Australian families in need by partnering with charities who are doing incredible work. Let us proudly introduce Next Steps Australia.
1 in 4 women across Australia experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime. 1 in 4. Those stats are staggering. This abuse, more often than not, leads them to flee their homes with limited or no possessions to seek alternative accommodation. Forced out of their homes with nothing. Sadly, domestic and family violence is the principal cause of homelessness for women and their children.
Who are Next Steps Australia?
Next Steps Australia aims to aid and support these women. Established in 2016, Next Steps Australia’s mission has always been to support survivors of domestic and family violence in establishing independent homes and lives by working with women’s refuges across the country. They provide Starter Packs of essential manchester items including sheets, quilts, mattress protectors, pillows and towels.
Basic bedding needs for one mother and a single child can cost, on average, up to $600. If she has four children, this can easily exceed $1500. Next Steps Australia are here to alleviate some of the financial pressure faced by a mother setting up a new home. A survivor shouldn’t have to worry about bedding.
Next Steps Australia aims to supply 365 Starter Packs each year to families in need. Meaning that each day of each year, Next Steps Australia is helping at least one mother or child start a new life. They are wholly funded by the generosity of their donors, who include individuals, corporations, philanthropic trusts, grants, and now - us.
Best&Less is proud to announce our partnership with Next Steps Australia, and can’t wait to contribute to such a remarkable cause which is directly assisting survivors of abuse.

Best&Less wants to make a difference. But we need your help.
Last year we partnered with Next Steps to raise money to put towards the creation of starter packs with essential and comfort items for women and children who are experiencing domestic violence. We set out to raise $73,000 in 2 months, and exceeded our goal, donating a total of $148,202 thanks to your generous donations.
This year, we’ll be accepting donations once again, with 100% of the proceeds going directly for Next Steps Australia. Our goal is to raise $30,000 from April 27th to May 14th, which is equivalent to 150 packs of essential items!
From the 1st of May, you can donate to Next Steps Australia with any purchase made in store. Any amount at all. And every dollar counts.
